Filemon will monitor and display file system activity on a system in real-time. Its advanced capabilities make it a powerful tool for exploring the way Windows works, seeing how applications use the files and DLLs, or tracking down problems in system or application file configurations.
Filemon`s timestamping feature will show you precisely when every open, read, write or delete, happens, and its status column tells you the outcome.
Filemon is so easy to use that you`ll be an expert within minutes. It begins monitoring when you start it, and its output window can be saved to a file for off-line viewing. It has full search capability, and if you find that you`re getting information overload, simply set up one or more filters.
Filemon works on NT 4.0, Windows 2000, Windows XP, Windows XP 64-bit Edition, Windows 95, Windows 98 and Windows ME. Sysinternals also has a version of Filemon for Linux.
Installation and Use Simply run FileMon (filemon.exe). You must have administrator privilege to run FileMon. When FileMon is started for the first time it will monitor all local hard drives. Menus, hot-keys, or toolbar buttons can be used to clear the window, select and deselect monitored volumes including network volumes (Windows NT/2K/XP), save the monitored data to a file, and to filter and search output.
If you've specified filters then FileMon will ask you to confirm filters used from the last session each time you start it. To start FileMon without it prompting you specify the /q switch on the command line. When FileMon starts it automatically captures file system activity. To start it with capture disabled use the /o switch on the command-line.
As events are printed to the output, they are tagged with a sequence number. If Filemon's internal buffers are overflowed during extremely heavy activity, this will be reflected with gaps in the sequence number.
Each time you exit FileMon it remembers the filters you've configured, position of the window and the widths of the output columns.
Filtering Use the Filter dialog, which is accessed with a toolbar button or the Edit|Filter/Highlight menu selection, to select what data will be shown in the list view. The '*' wildcard matches arbitrary strings, and the filters are case-insensitive. Only matches shown in the include filter, but that are not excluded with the exclude filter, are displayed. Use ';' to separate multiple strings in a filter (e.g. "filemon;temp"). Windows NT/2000 note: because of the asynchronous nature of file I/O, its not possible to filter on the result field.
Wildcards allow for complex pattern matching, making it possible to match specific file accesses by specific applications, for example. The include filter "Winword*Windows" would have FileMon only show accesses by Microsoft Word to files and directories that include the word "Windows".
Use the highlight filter specify output that you want to have highlighted in the listview output. Select highlighting colors with Edit|Highlight Colors.
Additional filter options select or deselect read, write or open operations. In many troubleshooting scenarios only open operations are of interest, for example.

Depending on your network configuration, you should also be able to use this instant messenger for sending files.

During instant messages you have the possibility to customize fonts, send emoticons and audibles, and select IMVironments. Everything is provided for you to have a great time while chatting with your friends. The Inside Yahoo! window provides quick links to news, finance, personals, movies, horoscopes, etc. You also get notifications of new emails and voice messages in this window. If you don't like this feature, you can turn it off from the program's preferences.

In version 8, the "Content Tabs" in the "Preferences" window has been removed. Now "Yahoo! Plug-ins" are available. So far you can install about 15 plug-ins like Music LAUNCHcast, Answers, 360, eBay, iTunes, Amazon.com, Finance, Calendar, Weather, and others. It's easy to stay up to date with new music, movies, sports results, and other stuff that may be of interest to you.

Pluses: On first run, Yahoo! Messenger will look in your Yahoo! Address Book and Microsoft Outlook for new contacts or for people who are using Messenger but are not in your list of contacts. This is done in order to complete your contact list.

The good news is that you can now add any Windows Live Messenger user to your contact list. After installing Yahoo! Messenger, simply click on the link "IM with Windows Live (MSN) Messenger", follow the instructions, and you'll be able to chat with Windows Live Messenger users.

Several extra plugins and features are provided. LAUNCHcast radio comes with lots of online radio stations to choose from. You can select a favourite radio station as "My Station". Yahoo! Games enables you to play Chess, Pool, Backgammon, Word Racer, or other games with your friends, while at the same time talking to them. Yahoo 360 blogging community is a way to keep connected with friends and family using blogs, pictures, and more.

All menu buttons and the skins are customizable, subject to change according to your preferences. The default skin in this version is Maverick Blue. If want to change this skin, you should access the "Change skin" submenu of the "Messenger" menu.

Drawbacks / flaws: In some network environments you may discover that you are not able to send or receive files.

Free Reader

  Actually without Pro Pack, you are still able to annotate a PDF document and print it out. However when you save the annotated document, it will be stamped with an evaluation mark on the top-right corner of the annotated pages. If you purchase a Pro Pack add-on, then there will be no evaluation mark.
Foxit Form Designer is not free. It enables you to add push buttons, text fields, check boxes, list boxes or radio buttons to an interactive PDF form and specify their properties. If you purchase a license for Foxit Form Designer, the license automatically covers all the features that are available in Pro Pack.

When to use Disk Copy?

A quick and effective way to restore accidentally deleted files

Undelete Plus makes for an effective instrument for accidentally deleted files. It can also recover files that have been emptied from the Recycle Bin, permanantly deleted files within Windows using the Shift + Delete, and files that have been deleted from within a Command Prompt.
Undelete Plus allows the following tasks to be performed:
· Recovery of deleted files from NTFS/NTFS5, FAT12/FAT16/FAT32 volumes.
· Restoring deleted files on Windows 2000, Windows XP, Windows 98, Windows ME, Windows NT, Windows 2003, Windows Vista.
Important Information:

As soon as you discover that vital files have been erased, the most important thing is to prevent erased files from being rewritten. To do so, avoid any use of the disk where the file was erased until after the files are recovered. Also remember that Undelete Plus shouldn't be installed to this disk - install it to floppy if no other disk is available.
The following three things are important for restoration considerations:
(1) The less time since the disk has been defragmented
(2) the sooner you make a restoration attempt
(3) the smaller the size of the file - the more chances for success we have.
When Undelete Plus saves a restored file it reads its content and writes it to a new file with the same name. It is recommended that you save files on another disk because of the risk of overwriting other erased files with the new saved one.
If you still choose to save files on the same disk from where they were restored, all files will be read from disk to memory and only after that will be written to disk. Then to check the condition of other erased files on disk, it will be re-scanned.
